Senate Amendment Would Weaken Video Privacy Act
The Senate is considering an amendment that would weaken the consent provision of the Video Privacy Protection Act by allowing companies such as Netflix to obtain blanket consent to routinely disclose a consumer’s video viewing records EPIC previously testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee and recommended that Congress strengthen the consumer privacy law by giving users access to the information collected about them, by extending the scope of coverage, and by increasing the penalties for violations of the law.
